ABOUT CHARACTER

Laura Crandall

Hi there, I'm Laura.
Visit my website here »

I launched the A Life of Character for two big reasons: 1) we are all a little exhausted, and 2) we have more tools to remedy that feeling than we realize. Let’s dive in and help each other out.

The purpose of this site and Character Conference is to reintroduce conversations about the importance of character ethics into daily life. Connecting our character traits and the thoughts and action behind them helps make life more meaningful and more enjoyable.

This is no small task. I get it. I know what it feels like to look ahead and realize it’s easier to sit this one out than keep pushing onward. I also know that’s the exact moment we need to take a leap and then march forth. I know it’s likely that you have experienced the same thing.

Professional Background: I’m a workplace communication and management strategist who has worked with countless companies and individuals to use all of their data – even the emotional and interpersonal stuff – to create better successes at work. I run Slate Communication in Massachusetts and Vermont. I teach at Harvard Extension School, and earned my Ed.M. in cognitive neuroscience and organizational behavior from Harvard Graduate School of Education. I’ve held titles including Frozen Fish Flinger and Co-Princess of Fun. I consult, coach, teach, write with the hope of helping people be better at being themselves.

Why Focus On Character? Over the last two and a half decades I’ve helped organizations and the people within them do good work they feel proud of. What I’ve found is that most we all want to feel connected to the same foundational values. Our problem is we forget to talk about the character traits that make that happen in personal and purposeful ways. We can change that by reintroducing conversations about the importance of character and what we need to do to develop it.

That’s what I’m bring to the forefront here and at the Character Conference. I’m eager to see you, hear your stories, and discover how we can live lives of character together.
